Demetrios James Elias was born and raised in Piraeus. In teenage years he immigrated with his family to the United States of America. There his mother Matina set up a bridal shop at Warren, Ohio, where her love for bridal gowns grew and her passion for bridal gowns was created.
In 1980, Demetrios’s dream of creating his own business became a reality. He bought Ilissa Bridals in New York City. Overnight, he turned an unknown local company into a successful, international business. Today, there are wedding shops all over the world selling Demetrios wedding dresses. With the stores ‘Brides by Demetrios’, as well as with ‘Bridal Salons By Demetrios’, located within Macy’s department stores across the US, Demetrios is the leader in the bridal industry.
As a designer and owner, Demetrios is a status icon in the fashion of wedding dresses. His bridal dresses offer a wide range of designs to the future brides and are at the cutting edge of fashion.
